JEWELLERY CARE GUIDE

Please treat your jewellery with the care and love with which it was made. Extend the life of your jewellery by following our care instructions.

How to Care for

Gold Plated Jewellery

To care for your new plated piece please refrain from polishing any plated items. Our plated jewellery is made by covering a base metal (usually sterling silver) with a layer of 9K or 14k Gold.

Lightly wipe your plated jewellery with a soft jewellery cloth to gently restore shine. This will help eliminate any dirt or dust from accumulating on the surface and wearing away the plated layer.

To limit tarnishing;

  • Please avoid contact with substances and harsh chemicals like water, lotions, oils, nail polish, nail polish remover, chlorine, perfume and creams and other liquid-based substances as they may react.
  • Please remove your pieces when washing your hands, showering, exercising, sleeping, swimming, cleaning, etc.
  • Keep your new pieces in the bag or box provided.
  • Do not store in your bathroom or anywhere it can be exposed to water or humidity.

Gold Vermeil Jewellery

With proper care, vermeil plating can last longer than gold plated jewellery. Our vermeil plating is from 2 - 2.5 microns, which is thicker than our gold plated jewellery. The base is usually 925 silver. We still recommend our customers follow the same care guidelines as our gold plated jewellery to maintain the lustre/shine of your piece, as well as the plating.

925 Sterling Silver

925 sterling silver contains 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper. Sterling Silver pieces will be stamped with 925. As with any metal, Sterling Silver can and will most likely tarnish over time. Tarnish is completely normal - so do polish your piece regularly. The most common and effective way to polish sterling silver is to use a polish cloth. Gently polish the surface making long, straight strokes. Store your silver in a cool, dry place, preferably in a bag or tarnish preventative pouch or box. Silver jewellery can be suitable for daily wear, but it's a good idea to take off your silver pieces before any activity that could cause damage.

Natural Gemstones

Much of our jewellery is handmade with natural, ethically sourced gemstones. To care for your natural gemstone jewellery;

  • Please be careful with any cosmetic chemical around natural gems as they can damage the surface.
  • Please store on a soft cloth. Dropping your gemstone jewellery can result in stones becoming loose or chipping.
  • Avoid mixing with other jewellery as damage can occur.
